Shelburne Rescue is committed to delivering high-quality prehospital emergency medical care and public safety support to the residents, employees, and visitors of the Town of Shelburne. Through our service, we foster civic engagement, strengthen community connections, and cultivate pride in both our town and our team.
Founded in 1984, Shelburne Rescue began as a volunteer first response unit operating in coordination with the Burlington Fire Department—initially without its own ambulance. In 1988, the department acquired its first ambulance, marking the beginning of continuous growth and evolution.
Today, Shelburne Rescue is a blended volunteer and career department providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) emergency services to Shelburne and surrounding communities including Charlotte, Hinesburg, and South Burlington. We work closely with mutual aid partners to ensure a coordinated regional response.
In 2024, Shelburne Rescue elevated its level of care by transitioning from Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) staffing to Paramedic-level operations. We aim to provide 24/7 paramedic coverage and proudly welcome both new and experienced clinicians to join our mission.
Located just south of Burlington, Vermont, the Town of Shelburne is home to approximately 7,700 residents. Our department currently includes 30 dedicated members who respond to over 1,600 calls annually—a number that continues to grow with the needs of our community.
Whether its through joint operations or providing coverage when we are unable to take the call, our mutual aid partners play an important role in serving the Shelburne community.
